Is it legal to get a tattoo of a celebrity autograph?

I would never do it, but I was arguing with a friend about it because she said it would be illegal because of copyright issues. I think it would be considered a form of self-expression and would fall into the category of ‘your own stupidity’ and your own choice, and you are not profiting at the expense of the celebrity by it. Thoughts?
